My Goalkeeping System

Chapter 94 Battle For Spots

His energy had completely filled up after eating his meal and his stamina was almost filled up halfway.

At ten percent stamina, his legs felt really weak and according to Catherine, the only reason why his legs remained steady to some extent while walking was that his energy had not fallen below thirty yet, if his energy had fallen to the same level as his stamina then walking would have been really hard for him until he recovered both of them to a good number while resting.

He let out a sigh as he dropped the plates in the sink before making his way to the freezer to grab a bottle of water.

"Training starts by 3:00 PM." He said before turning his gaze to the wall clock which was reading 9:20 AM now.

<You still have a lot of free time left to do a lot of things and train too>

"Yeah, train too," Dave muttered before making his way to the couch and slowly sitting down on it.

<Aren\'t you planning to train today?>

"What? The gym sessions and twelve kilometers weren\'t good enough for you?"

<I\'m just saying that in the next one hour you will be back in top shape and you should put all those energy and stamina to good use>

\'I will but I think I\'ll need two hours instead of three.\' He replied before returning his attention to the television screen.

The Bilbeth Premier League weekly was currently showing with Michael, Jonah, and Caitlin present in the room as the sports pundits.

"So, we have two matches left for the league to be concluded and while some teams have already claimed certain positions, others are still fighting for certain spots," Michael said. "Supreme United are three points clear of Dynamo FC just three points which means that there\'s a chance that Dynamo FC could swoop in from behind to win the league. What\'s your take on this guys?"

"Yeah, the chance is there but given the fact that teams Supreme United are going to be facing for the last two matches are Lave City and Zetero United, I think they\'ve already won the league," Jonah said.

"Lave City beat them in their own home two goals to zero at the beginning of the season, Roland couldn\'t even get past their defense," Caitlin said. "I\'m not saying they\'re going to win again because Supreme United looks stronger than ever now but the match is going to be tight and I can see Supreme United dropping a few points and giving Dynamo FC the chance to close up a little."

"Like a draw?" Michael said.

"Yeah, a draw," Caitlin said with a nod.

"I understand you wanting Dynamo FC to close up on the red supreme\'s because Dynamo\'s your home town but you seem to be forgetting that Dynamo FC will be facing two tough teams which they lost to at the beginning of the season, Zilo FC and Spree City and there\'s a big chance that they could drop all three points in both matches given the way they are currently." Jonah articulated.

"Yeah, Dynamo FC seems to have been struggling in their last six matches, their victories have not been solid at all," Michael said. "Unbelievable things happen in matches sometimes, things that no one expects to happen but so far I think Supreme are winning the league, they are three points clear of Dynamo and they have the better advantage judging by how they are playing currently and the last two teams they have to face."

"Yeah, they have the better advantage but just like you said, unbelievable things happen sometimes," Caitlin said with a shrug.

"Okay, that was for the underdogs of the league which are once again battling for the top spot at the last minute but the top spot isn\'t the only spot worth battling for. Unique FC are currently in a heated battle with Lesica United for the conference league spot, after their win against Lave City last night, they are now on level points and Lesica United\'s match against Spree City tonight will determine whether they will steer clear of them or remain where they are. What are your thoughts on these guys?"

"Lesica United are still ahead of them with the higher goal difference so they still have the advantage although they\'ve been in bad form lately," Jonah said. "If they win against Spree City then they are going to restore their advantage but if they lose or draw then things are going to get difficult for them."

"Unique FC have surprised me coming into this last few matches left before the season ends, especially Dave Richards, at the start of the season to the middle he was like the worst goalkeeper in the league, and then coming into their last five chapters he turned into a different person," Caitlin said. "He was the best goalkeeper in the league last week and was in the team of the week nominations and has been the best goalkeeper so far this week, he kept his first clean sheet in last night\'s match against Lave City and also got his first man of the match award.

"I know a lot of people have been saying that his performance is a fluke but he\'s kept it up for four straight games, that should be enough to tell us that he\'s finally starting to become the goalkeeper the fans want him to be. I think Unique FC has a chance of qualifying for the conference league if they keep up their current form and make an improvement in their defense."

"Yeah, their defense is their major weakness in every match, their attack is good with Mateo constantly causing problems from the left and Merino always making dangerous crosses into the box but their midfield is the best part of the game, the midfield trio of Minino, Ferran and Edward is the best they\'ve had in years." Michael opined.

"Yeah," Jonah said with a nod. "Unique FC will be taking on Frono FC in their home tomorrow while Lesica United will be taking on Spree City tonight, I want to hear your thoughts on these games."

"Unique FC are in very good form currently, five-match unbeaten run and although Frono FC are not to be underestimated given the fact that Unique FC have failed to win any of their last seven matches against them, Frono FC have won five while two ended in draws," Caitlin said. "You know I visited their talisman and striker Darwin Shaw this Sunday for an interview."

"You did? Why didn\'t you tell us?" Jonah inquired as he had not heard anything about it until now.

"Well, I just did." She said, "I wasn\'t planning on revealing the contents of the interview until tonight."

"Oh, I see," Michael said. "Did you ask him about the match against Unique FC?"

"Of course I did." She said before picking up the small remote control on the table and pointing it at the large screen by the side.

"You have the video," Jonah said.

"I\'m just going to skip to the part where we talked about the upcoming match." She said,

After skipping to the part she played the video.

In the video, the two were sitting opposite each other on the couches in a nice-looking living room.

She had her long black hair tied back unlike the way it was now and Darwin was putting on a white cap to go with his white shirt and short drip.

"So, Darwin, your last match for the week will be against Unique FC here in Frono given the fact that Unique FC are in good form with Dave Richards constantly turning up to save his team, how do you and your teammates plan on approaching the match?" She asked.

"The same way we always do?" Darwin replied abruptly. "We\'ve been doing it and it\'s been working for a while, of course, they\'ve been trying recently but I can assure you that I will get that ball past Dave Richards just like I did in the away leg and we will win the match."

As soon as those words left his mouth, Dave felt a sharp stinging pain in his heart, the confidence with which he had said that seemed to have annoyed him to an extent.

"Challenge accepted Darwin, challenge accepted." He muttered with his hands joined together.
